Overview

Soulsync is a PvE multiplayer roguelike where up to four players are bound together through a shared curse. Set in a sci-fi fantasy world dominated by corporate influence, players must survive a dangerous dungeon expedition that quickly spirals beyond their control.

What begins as a routine job for a dungeon exploration company becomes a fight for survival, identity, and escape.


Narrative Premise

A team of six adventurers is hired by Mordred Acquisitions Incorporated, a powerful corporate entity specializing in dungeon exploitation and resource extraction.

Unbeknownst to them, the company intends to use the team as experimental subjects to study a mysterious curse hidden deep within the dungeon.

After entering the first floor, the curse activates — binding the party’s lifeforce together. In the chaos that follows, the dungeon collapses and the group is separated, leaving only five survivors.

As they escape, they begin to uncover the truth:

  • The company is destroying natural ecosystems for expansion
  • The dungeon is part of a larger controlled experiment
  • Their survival was never intended

Their journey ends at an ancient forge, where they confront a corporate board member responsible for their downfall and rescue their captured leader.

Reflection

Soulsync challenged me to work across multiple disciplines including gameplay programming, system architecture, and narrative integration. The project emphasized building scalable systems for multiplayer interactions while maintaining strong moment-to-moment combat clarity.

It strengthened my ability to design modular gameplay systems that support both narrative and mechanical depth.
